T&C Resident Definiton

Sorry if this is a silly question but it's one that i've never really been 100% of the answer. Do the terms "US Resident"/"Resident of the United States" mean the same as the USCIS's term of "Permanent Resident"? I'm thinking they do....

I'm talking in terms of corporation's T&Cs. Amazon used "US Resident" on a competition they sent me today. And Sony PSN sent me an email saying I can have ID Fraud protection after they lost my details to hackers, but only if I am a "Resident of the United States". I'm on a H1B so not a "Permanent Resident".

I think you are a resident of the US.

The IRS does too, I'll bet! :)

(it's not the same as Permanent Resident, an immigration status.)

US resident means you are resident in the US. Nothing to do with immigration status. Think about it for a second. If "US resident" meant "Permanent Resident" in USCIS terms, all US citizens would be left out of the group.
