Default Suntrust Delta Skymile

Living close to ATL, Delta are always going to be my/our number 1 choice for flights. In fact I am already a Skymiles member etc.

The above card has caught my eye, but as a brand new immigrant im guessing it's not going to be an option. Unfortunately piggybacking ont he other halfs credit is not really an option - because for various reasons hers isn't very good.

Has anyone had any experiance with the above, and banking with Suntrust in general, and have any idea what sort of FICO score they accept for banking?

Thanks in advance.

I think you'll be new here in the next couple of months? If so, it'd be hard to damage a non existent credit score by simply applying! Also, have you had amex in the UK? If so yo can get the Delta Sky miles amex like us. 25,000 miles upon sign up and $5k limit, since raised to $6.5.

Thanks Geoff, no I've never had an Amex card, however down the line that isn't something I'll consider. Good point about the non-existant credit rating though!

Sun trust do the points earning debit card so they're certainly worth looking into. For general banking your fico score is probably irrelevant. Just need ID like passport/visa. Once you're in a relationship with them it will probably be easier to get unsecured credit cards from them sooner.

This one's one of the very few miles-earning debit cards, so hopefully much easier to get for a new arrival. I opened a SunTrust checking account just to get this card several months ago. I've been happy with them (well, why wouldn't I be - they keep chucking boatloads of Delta miles in my direction!)
