yes we know.

Oops.....sorry, I forgot....of course you are. I reckon that if I was ever to live in the USA or any other country on the face of this planet, for fifty years or more I would still be holding my British passport and still speaking in my Edinburgh accent. I would make determined efforts to ensure it wouldn't be tainted in any way.

I still harbour desires to experience life in the USA or Canada, (that's why I keep coming into this Forum and sadly seem to irritate some of you guys) but preferably certain parts of the latter (not redneck Bibe thumping country - I am gay after all) but I would also harbour plans to return to the UK, for all its shortcomings, in the fulness of time. When it comes for me to reside for ever more with either the angels or the devil I would wish to be back in my native land when my time is finally up.

Man what a lot of calories and high sugar content in that meal. And they talk about us Americans

No, fish fingers are ace. Fish sticks would be awesome. Except they're not. They're skinny little greasy shit sticks with an almost afterthought-like proportion of ground up fish testicles or whatever scattered loosely inside.

Very true, which is why I assumed that Yorkieabroad had got some proper fish fingers. Fish sticks fall into the same category as popcorn shrimp, utterly pointless.

I love fish sticks and fish cakes. Preferrably made and sold by our local Seafood Merchant. Their fishcakes are so thick and filled with lovely cod and the sticks are filled with flakely morsels of cod or halibut when you cut through the breaded outer coating.

You're lucky. Round here, the fish portions that you get in the supermarket are about the same as fish fingers were back in England.

They would be if I went to the supermarket, agreed. However, we have a wonderful Fish Store/Market in the Highridge Center that makes them fresh. You can get any type of fish you want and they even offer pre-made stuffed clams (oregano and casino), stuffed lobster with crabmeat, stuffed filet of flounder (with or without crab), crab salad, lobster roll and lobster salad, and maryland style crab cakes.

I am rather partial to a decent fish finger (preferably Birds Eye) either in a sandwich with a splash of vinegar and lots of ketchup, or with home made chips and mushy peas (Gortons are the best frozen alternatives I've found here, but only the fish fillets, never the sticks!) Neither of those options however can measure up to a nice flatside half shoulder of lamb with all the trimmings.....which is what my heart was set on all the way to Costco....

Maybe, but who's counting.....I'm as skinny as a rake anyway so I don't worry about trifling things like cals and sugar content. I work out regularly, have a full set of even teeth in tip top condition and which are routinely examined and buffed up twice a year (costs me £23.00 each month by direct debit to Denplan ) and that Sunday roast meal in that pub isn't anything like as calorific as your average hot curry dish down at our local Indian or Chinese takeaway which can now legitimately claim to be the national dishes of the United Kingdom rather than anything our local chippy can serve up for us or a full on Sunday roast down at the Horse and Jockey or the Slug and Lettuce or wherever.

Sorry, Loth. I'm a diabetic. I look at the sugar/carb count, f the calories. As for curry wouldn't know what that entails as per calories, etc. I detest curry in any shape or form and puke at the smell of it.

As we have now moved onto fish:
Yes, US fish sucks butt. I've tried every brand of *fish stick* available & not one of them tastes anywhere near as good as Birdseye fishfingers.

Bull ... that is so not true. That is your opinion of which you are entitled but don't make the assumption that everyone adhere's to your thought. Gorton's and Mrs. Paul's are far superior to Birdseye frozen fish. And note there are multiple fresh seaford private markets on the northern east coast and if you want truly fresh fish, you need only visit one.

It's an opinion, therefore it can't be incorrect. I've tried Gortons, it's utter crap.

& yeah, I start a thread pissing & moaning about driving halfway across LA for a minuscule plate of food & you suggest I travel across the entire continent for a piece of frigging fish???
