I am afraid that the OP's plans to move to the US are, to quote Grouch Marx, "... still in embryo, a town on the edge of wishful thinking".

Ian, even if I don't have a family of my own at the moment, it doesn't mean I do not want one ever. I may be young but I want to settle down somewhere.

Pete, you should be thinking about broadening your horizons, travelling, seeing the world, getting an education or a trade, working out what you are going to do with your life .... rather than thinking about buying property and schools for kids ..that can all come later... the world is a great place - you have the funds go enjoy it now

Let me give you some advice... whether you want it or not. Your posts suggest that you want everything in life to be decided now. For whatever reason, it sounds as though you're desperate to get to the US. I've no idea why... but when you're desperate, you make poor decisions. It's that simple.
Your list, sadly, sounds as though you believe the media hype that suggests that the US is the best place on earth to live. I can assure you, it isn't. Other than the US, there are 195 other countries in the world and while I might dismiss 75 or so as too poor, too violent, or too remote... there's still a heck of a lot of real estate in the world to explore!

I didn't either. By the time the first one was ready for school, we had outgrown the house and were ready to move anyway.
