I hope the beggar on the corner gets himself a few quid.

I might watch this for the rest of the afternoon - I get the distinct impression that something could kick off any second

He seems to have made little effort today - not even a cardboard sign

Do you have any idea how many people have asked me why I'm not wearing green today? Aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! I tell them, "Look, I'm not Irish. Okay? When America starts celebrating St. David's Day with equal enthusiasm, I'll think about MAYBE hoisting a pint of Guinness to celebrate!" They just don't get it.

So do you wear a welsh ladies costume or a nice red dragon on St Davids day then? God I remember St Davids day when I was in school, we always dressed up!

No, I don't wear the Welsh costume but I always make sure I have daffodils on my desk (even if I have to grow them myself) and I always wear red with my Red Dragon brooch.
I remember those school days too! The girls dressed in costume and the boys always had wooden swords that they bashed other boys with. Oh, and the boys had to have leeks pinned to their clothes like bloody great big corsages!

I didn't know you were Welsh.
Thought you were from around Chris's area.

You would not believe how funny that is!

Some Americans (spoiling for a fight) know how to rub an Irish person the wrong way by saying "What part of Britain are you from?" I never heard the reverse happening ........ except for TaffyinOK.

I spent Paddy's Day in Little Rock, Arkansas once where it was celebrated by English, Scots and the Irish. But the most amazing part was that even fervid Orangemen from Ulster joined in the fun.

So what- do you know than hardley anyone in Mexico celebrates the Battle of Puebla either...nor know WTF it is? But Cinco de Mayo is a good reason to go out and drink and eat Mexican food...Just like St Pats is (except with Corned Beef...which I understand to be as Irish as Borst is).
