(I'm the USC) Why is/was flying the St. George's flag considered racist? DH and I always hang our St. George's flag on St. George's day. (Don't worry, we also fly the U.S. and the Union Jack flags at appropriate times as well.)

It's more thats racists tend to festoon their houses in St George flags all year round.

I thought you were Irish? (Well Northern Irish - like me). When I lived in England (back in the late 70s and the 80s) there was a St George's Day parade in town - my eldest daughter was in the Brownies and the Brownies, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts all marched in the parade. That was it though. No big celebration. I think the Americans make a bigger deal of St Patrick's Day than the Irish do - almost everyone wearing green at my place of employment today. That said -for some, it's just an excuse to get drunk. Methinks I will help meself to a Bailey's now

St Georges Day celebrations would be great, there would have to be kebabs, what with him being from some place Anatolian-ish, or at least his dad was.
