I am currently with H-1B Visa in USA. I am to get married in a few months. What would the status of my wife become once we get married? Will she be able to work? Thank you!

Where and what nationality is your wife ? Where are you getting married ?

Let me give you some possibilities ...

If she is American, then nothing changes wherever she is married, although she could
petition for a GC for you if your want.

If she is not American, and you get married outside the USA, then she must apply for
a visa (unless Canadian) at a consulate in her home country. If you get married IN
the USA, and she's come to the USA as a visitor, then she must change to an H4 by
filing form I-539. She cannot work unless she has an existing work status like H1B of
her own, in which case, nothing changes.

btw, it might be a real problem to get H4 visa right after marriage. Consulates do
not like to provide this visa without good evidences or your good and long
relationship. They prefer to think that you spouse is using this marriage in order to
come to the US.

Good luck Alex http://www.airlineguides.com/immigration - Immigration Guide
