Default SpaceX

Is anyone else paying attention to this? This private company now seems to be in business putting satellites into orbit at a cost less than half of governments from the US, Russia, EU and more. They also project that their rates will fall further with volume.
Here is hoping this is finally the start of a space race. http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2...ssful/3866655/

Ulsterman in Texas is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: SpaceX

I have kind of noticed them, they are a Texas company so some of the Dallas area news channels have done profiles on them. I wouldn't say I know a great deal about them but they seem like an interesting company.

Amazing site, they had the original Dragon capsule right there in the cafeteria!
Being up close an personal to the rocket motors was pretty stunning also...

Watch the 60 Minutes program on this guy. He made his money with PayPal (I think) and bet it all on Space X.

Two investments going separate directions I imagine. One up in flames, the other riding one.

Jeff Bezos' "Blue Origin" team own a HUGE amount of land outside Van Horn in Western Texas - but the company is based in Washington.

Blue Origin are working on a spacecraft that is "Single Stage to Orbit", SSTO, and back again. There's some great video of test flights on their website.

Very likable man, he puts his money and passion where his mouth is.
I am sure that Heinlein would approve.
