Sniper shootings
 

Having spent 6 months enduring the I-130 process, I've now been in the US for 6 weeks.
Living in Fredericksburg, Virginia it's a bit scary at the moment with two of the shootings being a couple of miles from my apartment.

My sympathies got out to the friends and relatives of all of the victims and let's hope they catch this "sick bastard/s" very soon.

Yikes, Rodger... hang in there down there... we're close, but far away enough to not feel directly threatened (Baltimore)...

Maybe we should start talking about that British Expats Baltimore-Washington get together sometime soon, eh??
Work's got me very busy for most of November- Maybe in December sometime?

Hopefully they'll catch this crazed lunatic soon and by then it will be a sad, tragic memory.

Hi All!

Just buy your gas at full service stations and stay away from Michael's
craft store.

This just goes to show that the police can't really protect you. Here in
Maryland you have county, state, transit, toll facility police and federal
agency agents and they don't have a clue who is doing this.

It's sad that this guy has shot 9 people, but 9 people were killed in a bad
traffic accident yesterday (forget the state), so you are more likely to die
in a traffic accident than have this guy shoot you.

so did you marry in the US and apply in US for 1-130 while one of you had to live back in UK waiting ?

Its been 6 months since first NOA for 1-130. In august we had second NOA and 1-130 is now in NVC waiting........

How much longer do you recon before i recive pack three from london embassy and how long after i post it back till i get an inetview date ?

Very very grateful for any time hints, we are becoming desperate. x

You live in a beautiful part of the country Roger, that I-95 corridor is
very picturesque. There was a article in Readers Digest describing the 10
most beautiful drives (road trips) in the USA. I-95 between D.C and
Richmond was in the top 10. Plus, you have Cracker Barrel Restaurants with
good help, Waffle House's, Kings Dominion Amusement Park, fresh seafood and
Virginia Beach is close by. Can you tell I like the area. Just hang in
there, they will find this person. Mark

Hi Beth, So how is life in Northern Maryland (we were married in Maryland although further south, in La Plata. It was a shame driving through there a couple of weeks ago to see the church we married in had been devestated by the hurricane a while back. I just hope it's not an omen !!

Yep it sure is Puretty !
Not that it is important, but around here it is very much like the Shires in the UK, however about 2 miles down the road there is more neon then any place is entitled to have, I can't imagine the electricity bill :o)

We left Sears (across the parking lot from Michaels) about
30 minutes before the shooting. Very scary.
However, vigilance is the key, pick a petrol station that is in an area which is not accessible to an interstate. We filled up on Friday, my wife put the petrol in and I was just looking around, maybe irrelevant but worth the effort.
Having grown up in London with bombings and various terrorist activities, I guess I tend to take these things a bit for granted, but it doens't make it easier

Hi,
I did actually reply to your post, but keep getting diconnected and scrolling up it didn't appear, so here goes again.

We married in Maryland and immediately moved to the US.
My wife didn't settle so we went the DCF route in London (we were able to do this as my wife had a resident visa from the British Embassy in DC)
We filed at the end of March, my US waife came back in May to "set up domicile".
Although we were apart for 4 months it seemed a lifetime, but reading the threads on here it is nothing compared to the wait many are having, so good luck and hang in there, it is worth all of the wait and stress.

With so many nice drives in the US I can't believe this one is in
anyone's top 10. I've driven it many times and there are probably 10
drives in California alone that are better.

hell they want and get away with it without some one beating the shit out them,
like they can in the socialist, almost *taken over by foreign influences" UK??
I am glad you seem to be getting over feeling sorry for yourself, altho you did

Living right smack in Montgomery County, 25 minutes north of where the bulk
of the shootings happened, and with two kids attending school about 10
minutes from Aspen Hill/Silver Spring, it's more than a bit scary. my
family back in Canada are freaking out over the whole thing, the schools are
on lockdown (code blue) and I am afraid to go shopping or fill my car's
tank....almost enough to ask hubby if he wants to face canadian immigration
just to get away from it.

You forgot Great Falls National Park in Maryland and No. Virginia, Williamsburg, Six Flags, DC, Shennodah Mountains, Luray Caverns, etc.

Can you tell, I love it too, and have been there often
