No, but we had a similar product.

I caused a small problem at my kids school when they (my kids) wanted me to buy "Lunchables" for them for school lunches because their friends had them. I told them that their friends were being poisoned by their own parents and that lunchables would make them fat and hyperactive and that I cared about them more than that.

Of course, my kids told their friends "Your parents are trying to kill you, my Dad said so".

Meat-alike sounds horrific. I like curd burger better.

Meat-alike is my own term. I just thought it up!

Kinda catchy though... :p

Sounds a bit too close to "Turd Buger" for my liking...

No cheese, just meat products. Any cheese we used was purchased from another company. Different types of plants have different government rules they have to follow, so it's difficult to do more than one type of food in one plant.

As late as the early 80s, one of our plants used to slaughter the cows on sight....they even had a rabbi bless whatever was necessary for the kosher products.

Any processed food is not that good for you, including vegetarian meat alikes. The stuff they put in processed food to extend shelf life and give "flavor" is crazy. There actually have entire journals dedicated to them. I'm not completely whole foods/fresh/organic, but I try to purchase what I can (including meat) with the least amount of processing and preservatives.. I just can't stomach some of it though (whole grain pasta is nasty).

Corn dogs, elephant ears, fried Coke, fried Twinkies and other delicious disgusting foods are best when purchased at small county fairs out in the boonies. Best to get them fresh, right after they are picked and not too green.

Feeling in need of a bit more I called at the supermarket (Longs) and had a look at the deli counter.
"Not had one of them before??? One Corndog please!"

What is that about? Can't say I'll be rushing back for another one. The corn was really claggy and the sausage was way salty. :-s

I had heard of them before but rather wish I hadn't tried one. Have I just had a particularly bad one or is that par for the course?

Anyone got suggestions for something a little nicer for next time?

A Gyro, still good at around $5 whereas most other fast lunches are getting nearer the $10 mark.

I tried ONE in my life and that was enough. Yuk.
