Default Snack lunch US style

Well I was at work today with no lunch other than a peanut butter sandwich.
Feeling in need of a bit more I called at the supermarket (Longs) and had a look at the deli counter.
"Not had one of them before??? One Corndog please!"

What is that about? Can't say I'll be rushing back for another one. The corn was really claggy and the sausage was way salty. :-s

I had heard of them before but rather wish I hadn't tried one. Have I just had a particularly bad one or is that par for the course?

Anyone got suggestions for something a little nicer for next time?

Corn dogs taste best when freshly made, and grocery stores are likely using frozen ones and just re-heating them.

Salad bar? Sandwich made to order (they do this at my local grocery store but I've never bought one)? Bowl of soup from the deli?

Sausage? I thought corn dogs were hot dogs which in the US are not considered sausages. But then I've never had one and will probably die without ever having tried one.

can't even bring myself to try a corndog my kids won't eat them either and they eat anything!
I find a lot of things too salty over here, even when we eat out and don't start me on the "too sweet" things.

Morning star meat free corn dogs are fun and taste...of something.

I still say, make a batch of pasties. They last a week in't fridge if you don't eat them.
