Slightly daft feeling!

Was enjoying a lovely walk with my Mum this afternoon and she said
'What do you wear to THE INTERVIEW? Suit? What?'
I was non plussed and hadn't given it much thought. It's not like a job interview. Clearly I'm not gonna turn up in Bermudas and Flip Flops (and not just because it's November)
I was going casual but is there any merit/demerit in anything else? Would a suit look like one is trying to hard and they get suspicious?
Do you loose points for lack of style or colour clash or odd socks?

My conclusion is casual but clean and smart(ish). Shoes. Jeans. Shirt. Warm jacket since I understand there's liable to be a bit of outside queueing!

Anyone had a 'Your Visa is withheld on account of your outrageous flares?'

;-)

I would say smart casual...which doesn't mean jeans. Although when we went for our interview we were sat next to Roger Daltrey and he was wearing jeans.

There will be people there from all walks of life...some in suits, jeans etc. IMHO you want to present yourself as someone who has made an effort.

BTW I am assuming you mean for your via interview at the US Embassy in London.

This if for THE INTERVIEW! Visa Interview in London - what other one could there be in my little world right now!! ;-)
I don't see a problem with dark new jeans - not like they have rips/frayed etc.

Christ, it isn't a fashion show. I'm assuming your interview will consist of 2 minutes of questioning through a glass window (think railway station ticket window) - so they wouldn't even notice if you were stood there in your underpants! Honestly - wear whatever you like, it won't matter a jot.

Don't ask about What because everyone knows what is on second.

All the times I've been to the interviews I wore a suit. Sometimes it was because I was at work, sometimes just because. I've seen people wearing all sorts, including bermudas and flip flops.

Mate you get all sorts there! And like previously mentioned, they interview you through a high window - they're not interested in what you're wearing, so long as your paperwork is all alright.

Smart casual will work well but truly it doesnt matter that much. There will be all walks of life there.
