"They" also say "never go back". I am fairly sure I could never happily go back to anywhere I have lived for more than a year, nor to one place I lasted only 8 months.

I lived back in North Yorkshire for 6 months in 2005... At that point I had been out of the UK for 10 years, and in the US for a little over 2, though I hadn't really "settled" here. I really enjoyed being back, and could quite happily have stayed. I think that knowledge helped me settle in better on our return. I doubt I ever will move back permanently, but I'm sure I would be happy if I did.

I think the only 2 places I've lived that I wouldn't really be interested in going back to are Skegness (summer job, Butlins) and Harlow (first job, 9 months in YWCA which was actually really good fun, but the town...blech!)
