Default short term health insureance

Hi all!

I am moving to NJ in a couple of weeks, only just got my visa through, but my company wants me to start straight away.
I cant get health insurance through my company until i have been there three months, so i need temporary cover.
Can anyone recomend anywhere that does health insurance with good cover on a monthly basis, rather than having to commit to a whole year?

Any help is appreciated

Matt

Personally, I would have made health coverage from day one one of the main provisions of me moving to the US. Too late now though.

Are you absolutely sure this is the exact situation (no company health insurance available at all for first 3 months)?

Some company health schemes have an initial period when pre-existing conditions aren't covered is why I ask. All this means is that if you have an existing chronic condition (diabetes, or high blood pressure), this wouldn't be covered for 3 months, but anything else would.

Because UK and US health care terminology and practice is so different I thought I'd ask the question in case you were misunderstanding it. Always worth checking!

Cover needs to be Obamacare approved.

If seriously you can not get cover through your Employer you can through the Exchange.

Pre existing coverage is an Obamacare requirement.

I do not think Employers will be penalised this year, but would be next year.

That would not meet Obamacare requirements.
