can only help with kids ones. Stride rite have a lot of stores in houston according to ther website. I get all my kids shoes there because they measure them and also sell the extra wide fitting my youngest son needs. Its quite like clarks in the UK. http://www.striderite.com/jump.jsp?i...Type=HOME_PAGE

My husband had his feet measured in an ecco shoe store - but they had limited styles for men and women. Not sure if they are in texas though?

Yeah, I've found striderite are the only comparable shoes to clarks for children here. I've not had my feet measured here, I just tried on various sizes and found that my size 5 UK feet are either a 7 or an 8 here depending on the make of shoe.

I use endless.com for shoes for me and my husband as they have free shipping and free returns. We are in small town Mississippi though, if I were in Houston I would just go to the store probably.

Nordstrom is supposed to carry lots of different widths in shoes and measure your feet.

Try Zappos.com. They have a very good selection of shoes. Maybe a little bit more expensive as you have to pay for shipping, but they are very quick.

Skechers will measure both your feet and your kids. Kids shoes are cute, they have outlet stores that are much cheaper than their high street.

I wish I could get Clarks shoes for my daughter again, I find we have to get really casual or really dressy.

No to outdo you, but endless do free overnight delivery, I ordered this morning and the box should be here tommorow before 12pm.

Zappos may have a better selection though, I'll need to have a look (any excuse for shoes )

I dunno about you, but I find it hard to get school clothes after the start of term, it's a real pain.

Another good online store (with free shipping & returns) is Piperlime. It's owned by the Gap and there is a vast selection of brands.

http://www.piperlime.com

They also now have the new British 'Fitflops' in (they're supposed to tone ones leg, thighs and bum.... I'm currently wearing Fitflops here (in Singapore) and it's like walking on springs -

Me too, then someone recommended Lands End. They have loads of different sizes and styles.

They also have girls slim fit which is fantastic, as I was having to have clothes sent over from the UK for my daughter as she is so tiny, and I couldn't find anywhere here that did fully elasticated waists.

I really like their swimwear with the mix and match tops, and bottoms with the little skirts, I bought some last year. Haven't bought any kiddy wear yet though.

I called our local kids' shoe mecca, Sandy's Shoes, and they said that Houston does not have a true kids' shoe store. Imagination Toys carries some shoes, but not the selection that Sandy's does. Other than Dallas, apparently there aren't any good speciality kids shoe stores in Texas!

A lot of people scrimp on kids' shoes because they do grow out of them so quickly, but at the same time comfy shoes encourage kids to get up and get moving.

http://www.zappos.com/kids-european-shoes

has a delicious selection... must control myself....

I find shoes over here vary enormously in sizing between brands which makes buying online really difficult.
