Shipping personal items

Hi all,

I have a few boxes full of random person affects I would like to ship out to my new home or office in the states.

Can anyone recommend a company that would be good to handle this please?

My only prior experience has been using someone like Fedex to ship specific things. The difference here is this will boxes full of a variety of things. I'm not sure if that would make things tricky.

Many thanks

I used http://www.parcelmonkey.com for a couple of boxes of personal items a few months ago that my old housemate found in his attic, that got missed 5 years ago when I moved.

They were cheap and fast

Parcel2go worked very well for me, they use all the main carriers, UPS, FedEx, Parcelforce but at much reduced rates.

I never had a problem and boxes generally arrived within a week.

I recently did this when I went back to the UK to clear my late mothers house. I booked it via Parcel2go but it was basically UPS. I sent three boxes of random stuff (photos, ornaments, etc). Approx 30kg of stuff cost 100quid.

Be aware they will not guarantee "nice" treatment of stuff even if you write FRAGILE all over them. Most of our stuff came through OK but a couple of things were damaged.

To ease it through customs you just need to have a basic summary of items. It only lets you write a very brief line of contents anyway.

Shipping Via Airfreight : British Expat Wiki

Might be a starting point. Quite a few recommendations in recent past threads too, you might be able to search them out.
