Default Shipping household stuff from Minneapolis (US) to London

Hello Everyone,

After spending 1.5 years in Minneapolis, MN, US, I am moving back to London (Finally!!!)

I have bought tickets with Iceland Air from Minneapolis to Heathrow. We are allowed 6 pieces of baggage (2 per person) - 23 KG/50 LB each. But we have a lot more stuff than the allowed baggage. My estimate is we would have atleast 3 pieces of luggage (bags or boxes) of 23 KG/50 LB each.

To the best of my knowledge, I have the following options:
(1) Pay for the extra luggage at $150 per piece and carry the luggage with me when I fly
(2) Ship through well-known carriers like FedEx, UPS etc
(3) Ship through other professional shipping agents

I guess, Option (2) would be a little expensive, and I am not too sure of the companies that would do Option (3).

I can wait for a 2-4 weeks for the stuff to be delivered to me in London.

I wish to go with a service that would give me all inclusive quote.

If any of you have had any experience in this area, or can think of any other options, kindly share those with me.

Many thanks.

Welcome to BE and good luck!

Have a search of the forums though, quite a few moving threads, but most of the recent ones are going in the opposite direction, but there was a recent one going to LA which used option 3, which basically sub'ed DHL I think they said.

Also search out the post on postage by Ozzidoc.
