Shipping a bunny?
 

A while ago I looked into shipping my beloved bunny from the UK to US when it is finally time for me to move. I kinda decided that it would be better if he was just rehomed to save him the shock of it all. But now I thought I may as well ask here, to see if anyone can give me some advice that changes my mind and allows me to keep him. Does anyone have any bunny-shipping experience? :blink:

Bunnies are the same sort of size as a cat. Shipping it is very doable, but do you love your bunny £1,000? That is roughly how much it will cost to ship bunny out of the UK to the US.

Alternatively if you can out it a soft-sided carrier and are prepared to fly out of France or Germany then you should be able to carry bunny in the cabin with you.

I'm sure when you looked into it previously you looked into all the logistics / feasibility and of course a pet shipper is the best source of advice for the practicalities and first hand experience, but if you want some up to date info check out https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet...abbits-into-us and there is also some tips on pet travel here Vacations and Travel | House Rabbit Society If you're going to fly with your bunny then make sure to check out airline specific policies on this.

We brought our rabbit from France with us in 2013. And the dog. Dog came with us on the planes - in the hold since she is fairly big. No probs and not very expensive.

Rabbit. hmmm.
Rabbits are classed as rodents and were not allowed on a passenger plane. So we had to use a company to put her in a double cage (cage inside a cage) because you know, little white bunnies are super dangerous. She was then transported to Austin via Paris and Newark . She was delighted to see us. Cost was about 1000 euros. For a rabbit. Soft in the head perhaps but she was daughter's pet and helped with the settling in to have her here. I would never have heard the end of it if we'd left bunny in france.

She's still around - bunny and daughter. I'm hoping that when daughter leaves home for college that I won't be left looking after her.

There are several bunny farms in Nevada, perhaps ask them how they ship their bunnies.

Normally rabbits have relatively short life spans. Ours, Napoleon Bunnyparte, lived for 13 years before we had to have him put down.

Walking the pooch this afternoon and we came across a Bunny who would have had a short life span if I had not been hanging on, he did get a ground squirrel last Saturday, required digging a very deep hole, very pleased with himself.

A few years ago I separated one of our cats from a young rabbit she had caught, by chasing her through the woods and back into our yard again - cats are sprinters not distance runners, especially with a mouth full of rabbit! :lol:

The rabbit was lucky I was there, and unlike the common myth, that rabbit lived to scream a second time.

The first time he dug out a Gopher he must have been 3ft down and it was in pretty bad condition but still alive so I could only finish it off.

This time I heard the squeaking and then a crunch, I would mention his success rate is pretty low so not something I usually pay much attention to.
