Shipping Art
Has anybody had experience in shipping original art from the UK to their property in Florida? Specifically looking at FL but any general advice around preferred couriers and any common duty issues. This is not for any commercial purpose, just moving possessions from one (UK) property to the US.

If it is framed and on stretchers, I would take it out of frames, off stretchers, and re-stretch and frame after arrival.

It's funny. My grandfather and great grandfather were in the business of shipping art from uk to USA. Unfortunately I don't have a clue!

Is it valuable art or just pictures which one would buy from furniture stores/art shops (not galleries).
Wouldn't that affect what type of shipper you use? |

I ship a lot of art around the globe, sometimes removing the canvas from the stretcher bars and rolling into a tube is not an option. If your art is big you may have to crate it which may seem daunting but will save time when it arrives to the new destination.
