Shipping to America (Kansas)
Hiya,
I've been wondering about shipping my larger items over to the states when I go next year. I figure that someone else is bound to have done has this and I wonder how they got on?
Is it right that you can't ship wooden boxes to the states?
Who is cheapest to use?
I'm only really needing to ship 600KG volumetric box (6'6"x4'x4')
Help?!

We're planning to use http://www.shipit.co.uk/ but as we haven't used them yet I can't give you any feedback about them.

I think most people ship by sea to the East coast. From there it goes by train to STL, then by covered wagon across Missouri into Kansas Territory. Where in Kansas is your homestead claim?

If one of his "larger items" turns out to be a crate of spare tractor parts, you won't be laughing then...

I love those shows.
Now we need an Oregon Trail one, with Donner Party & all.

Just a little advice having made many many moves between countries. Consider strongly what it is you are shipping - as most things are replaceable and are often better being replaced e.g. housewares, clothing, furniture, electronics etc ( if they even work in yr destination ). When all is said and done the amount of sentimental items we do not want to part with is quite small for most people. Plus its more fun to go and buy the unattached stuff again
