Ship to storage?

Hi

Quick question. Does anyone know if its possible to ship to storage? For a few items I would like to send via air but I will have nowhere to send them initially. So I was wondering if I could ship to storage in the US?

Yes you can ship to your removal companies warehouse for them to store them until you're ready to take delivery, alternatively as airfreight is pretty quick you could store them in the UK and send for them when you've got an address if that's easier.

Suprisingly enough there is a great company in the US called Ship2Storage.com
ship to storage. I have used them for storing items from school during the summer and then when I went to Australia for a semester. They ship items via FedEx ground and can pick-up items from your residence. I also stored some luggage with them. Hope that helps!

Do be careful with this. I have been told by all of the removal companies I have had quotes from that I have to arrive into the US before my belongings do. I'm reading your post in a way that implies you want the goods to arrive before you do, hence no delivery address. Apologies if I've misinterpreted what you've said. However if it's just a case of getting the ball rolling before you organise your accommodation that's apparently fine. I can arrange for the removals company to collect my things from my address in the UK and then update them with my address at a later date.

It's ok. As I am in the US right now for a couple of weeks I have spoke to a colleague who can store stuff for me.

This still doesn't get around the customs requirement that you are physically in the country when your goods reach US soil.

Does anyone have a link to a US customs webpage for further reading? I am searching the web anyway, but wanted to ask since this thread is active.

It's written on some of the paperwork given to me by the removals company. The document seems to be a US Homeland Security official form, albeit a photocopy for demonstration purposes, they'll give me an original to fill in when I've officially signed with that particular removals company.
