Setting up home in Summit NJ

Re: Setting up home in Summit NJ
I lived across the Hudson in NY and cast another vote for Verizon. Always had excellent service and reception. FIOS (Verizon's tv cable service) is far better than Direct TV or Optimum or whatever else is available in Summit. Wireless reception is really good. Their new plan of $45 per month for unlimited data per line is a darn good price.

From the third part of the tri-state area, CT, another vote for Verizon phone. I think that everyone I know uses it, as it is the only carrier that functions consistently in CT and in the city. However, Fios hasn't made it out to the woods yet, so I have to use the local cable TV/internet company, Charter. Used to have DirecTv, but it would go out every time the trees waved.

Just to add to my previous post on this thread:
I was driving through New Providence yesterday and remembered that I was short on milk. I stopped off in the shopping plaza on Springfield Avenue (there is a Starbucks, Smashburger, Chipotle, CVS pharmacy, pet store and the very good Dim Sum Villa Chinese restaurant there, plus other restaurants and shops.
At the back of the plaza is an Acme Market (supermarket). I've never been in an Acme before and I was very pleasantly surprised. It's a new store as it was formerly an A&P supermarket. It is a bit like a Waitrose inside and has lots of organic items, a bakery, fresh seafood and an excellent deli.
Best of all they do have a limited selection of British items; Bisto gravy granules, Jacob's Cream Crackers, McVitie's Digestives, Choc and Caramel Choc Digestives, McVities Fruit Shortcake, Hobnobs, Branston Pickle, Ribena and Robinsons Apple & Blackcurrant squash (almost unheard of in the US), Tyrells crisps, HP Sauce, Heinz Salad Cream, Heinz Baked Beans & Spaghetti Hoops, Bird's Custard, Heinz soups, bags of Maltesers, Bounty, Aero and Lion bars, Rowntrees Fruit Gums and Fruit Pastilles
Acme

Re: Setting up home in Summit NJ
Hi everyone
Our move is getting closer. Just 7 weeks to go now. We have found a lovely house in Summit NJ and signed the lease. We are in NJ for half term so will go shopping and exploring. We will have about 4 weeks before our furniture arrives in NJ so we will need to buy some basic stuff to Get us through. We won't have a car to start but can hire a car or take taxis. I'm looking for local knowledge/ advice of where to shop to get the best deals on things like TVs, a k-cup or Nespresso coffee machine (soooo important!!), blow up beds and pots and pans to
Get us through. And also where the nearest supermarket would be. The kids will be going to Lincoln-Hubbard and Wilson Primary Centre - does anyone have kids at these schools? And also any suggestions for car companies?
Thanks so much!!after all the wobbles I'm feeling excited now and I've had so
Much great advice on here so thank you!

We have a 3rd grader at Lincoln and friends at Wilson so message me if I can help. We moved to Summit in March last year. Did you tour Lincoln today? A mum told me she'd shown an English mum round today.
