Question Self Storage Units

Apologies if this has been discussed before - I did a search but didn't find anything.

Our furniture is currently making its way across the ocean from the UK. As we were in a 3 bed house and are now in a small 2 bed apartment we need somewhere to store all the extra bits.

I did some internet searches to find self storage units but unless I give all my details they won't give me a quote. I don't really want to hand over my phone number, email and address as this will end up on some sales list and I will be harassed with "marvelous offers just for me" for months to come!

So if anyone can give me a rough estimate of costs for an average sized unit I would appreciate it.

My spouse and I looked into self storage briefly when it was determined by the other half that I had too much "stuff".

We called around two or three self storage businesses asking about cost of space, both for temperature controlled and non-temperature controlled. We got the quotes without giving all our details.

You should be able to do the same. Costs will vary around the US, even within a state so I would suggest you make some calls.

We've had to move in with my MIL ( )and most of our stuff has gone into storage. We pay $139 a month for a 12x12 unit which we've managed to cram a hell of a lot of stuff into.

I wouldnt bother looking on the internet. Go through your phone directory (yellow pages) that way you get to speak to the companies directly.

About $150/month ought to cover you for a garage-sized chunk of space in most places.
