Smile Scuba divers - is it cheaper to buy gear in US or UK?

I'm going to be passing through California on my way down under - I was wondering whether I should get some dive gear in the UK before I go, or in LA. I'm specifically interested in a dry suit, but would appreciate feedback from anyone on all scuba gear costs.

Thanks

Buzzy

No 17.5 % VAT for starters

Dollar / Pound rate - pretty darned good if you have sterling.

I would have a look on-line since you don't need the support from a local store. I buy my dive gear locally (Atlanta). Not the best price but 1st class customer service.

Without a doubt US is cheaper, especially if you are buying high end.

Hey I can use any currency - I seem to have accounts in GB£, US$, NZ$ and soon AU$!!!

But seriously folks, I earn GB£, so that's what I'll be spending.

Can anyone recommend the best Dive store in LA? I'm gonna go for a dive or 10 on Catalina, but Divers Supply there are not the cheapest around....

Happy to drive anywhere... I love driving in LA, rent a Ford F150, feel like I'm in some wierd movie....

Cheers

Get it here - if you have a shipping address here in the states then scuba.com and liesurepro.com have web order and are authorised dealers for a lot of the gear they sell.
