Is it acceptable to label someone who holds high standards of spelling and grammar a "nazi" in Sweden?

Given that standards of spelling and grammar develop as a reflection of those used by those in positions of power, the use of nazi might be fitting.

Basically all this goes to show is that people still cannot differentiate between gay men and pedophiles.

Some gay men are pedophiles, some straight men are pedophiles. Oddly enough some gay men are not pedophiles and some straight men are not pedophiles. This concept is obviously too mind blowing to grasp.

I am assuming that this is simply a feeble attempt at dodging answering my question.

That course of action followed up by a few more high profile Eagle Scouts is likely to be the quickest thing to make the executive sit up and take notice.

Hold on, at what point did we lose the 'a' in paedophile?

Sorry, but this is clearly a more pressing topic than kiddy fiddling ...

That accounts only for post #16 only.
The general problem within the scouts seems to be a hierarchy that is influenced by the religious right.
Homosexuality being more of a pressing issue to them than paedophiles. Paedophilia being noticeable in the Bible by its absence. Or should I say absence of direct critical reference.

zzzzzzzzzz, Anywho, back to the topic at hand. What would it take to repeal the congressional charter to be able to allow other organisations to be recognised? All the time the BSA has a stranglehold on the situation nothing will change. It will probably take a repeal of the "don't aks don't tell" situation as it was in the American military which was forced by the President maybe?

Some people can't seem to differentiate between straight men and paedophiles......I'm not allowed to go to my 7 year olds Girl Scout meetings or days out (camp/trips etc) because I'm not female. I don't know if that is a national policy of sex discrimination, or just our area, but its likely to lead to her having to quit if my wifes business traveling doesn't slacken off..

Got to say, with the BSA, I thought it was a moral/religious issue they were using to "justify" it, rather than the threat of paedophiles, but apparently Huckabee was banging on on his radio show saying it was about keeping paedophiles out of the movement, so who knows what the real rationale is.

I am the leader of my daughter's girl scout troop and unless your district has a different policy to ours, you are being misled. Dads are perfectly welcome to attend meetings and help chaperone trips. We even have a troop in our area with a Dad as troop leader.

My son too is a boy scout despite the gay/atheist ban. Not that I agree with the ban at all but he was signed up and involved before I learned about it and as you say, it's not a question on the form. He enjoys scouts and as he doesn't have any other social/sporting activities that he enjoys, I'm not going to pull him out. The troop he is with is chartered to a catholic church, of which we are not a member, but he was still welcomed and we were never asked which church we do belong to (none). I don't believe the subject of sexuality has ever come up - they're too busy stressing responsibility, leadership, trustworthiness, etc. I agree, what happens at the grassroots level depends on the demographics of the troop. At school he sometimes gets a hard time from the other kids because of his accent and flame red hair - there is none of that within the troop - the boys are all friendly. Religion is not a subject that can be avoided here in Texas, so of course I have discussed my lack of religious faith with my kids and why we don't attend church. We also talk about what churchgoing people of different faiths do believe and I try to explain that as sympathetically as possible. I expect that they will eventually make up their own minds - but have always stressed tolerance and discretion.
