Re: Scouts reaffirm anti-gay policy
The city has not banned them, despite an attempt to do so a while back. At least one high school did so, from pressure from students. The scouts were replaced at that school with involvement from "The Mountaineers", a local organization offering involvement in climbing, biking, kayaking. I am not sure there was any real loss.

I thought there was a ban from the school district. This article implies a ban "while school is in session" in 1991 - which is probably what i am recollecting. Maybe it would be illegal to ban them at other times? For example, I know there have been challenges to churches and church groups meeting in schools, and yet churches do still meet in schools in the Bay Area.

They all support, talk about and donate to causes that are pro-life and anti-gay though.

Back to topic.
My daughters school's PTA is a partner or a charter or whatever it is they call organizations that work with scouts. The scouts hold their meetings in the school, and at at least one Veterans Day, they have raised the flag at the school. It shocks me that an organization that discriminates against children is allowed anywhere near a school.

There was a follow about a scout leader that was kicked out when they found out he was gay and another case where a kid was kicked out when the group found out that the mother was a lesbian.

I'm pretty sure they have a similar policy regarding atheists and agnostics.

Re: Scouts reaffirm anti-gay policy
Male homosexuals have a predilection for small boys so, in their search for victims, many become scoutmasters, sports coaches and Catholic priests. It is irrational to blame the Scouts, sports organisations or the Catholic Church for the actions of these monsters. As long as our society continues to tolerate these deranged individuals, it behoves every parent to reduce their children's contact with them to an absolute minimum.
