I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder. From my point of view, having grown up in Motherwell, it's pretty.
I understand you thinking that it's a dump if you went there when you were young. To my knowledge of the area it's mainly pensioners who go there...

My Grandma lived in Maidstone! She lived at a British Legion sheltered housing place and used to make poppies for Remembrance Sunday.

I went to maidstone in May ... very dreary ..rained all day ...

My Ex came from Maidstone, her Dad ran the Broomstick factory, she was spoilt from an early age.

My former PA lives in Maidstone. She invited us for Boxing Day lunch once. It was very cold, but at least the kids behaved themselves.

Although no family was there I loved it, lived in a village called Loose.

I think you mean Sheppey or perhaps you were right. Can't offend anyone from there as they're still trying to tune in their wireless so as their sister, I mean wife, can get up to speed on whats happening in the rest of Kent.
