Friends were there for four yrs, if you claim residency there, you get a check every year from the oil sales

Hubby would like to take a cruise to Alaska...but I'd rather go somewhere without snow and ice. From what I've heard the cruises are spectacular.

Have to say I'm somewhat confused by this thread.

I've lived in Texas for 7 years now, and I've never seen a scorpion in the house. And I've never seen a black widow or brown recluse anywhere.

I've also never seen a gun in a public place.

Possibly it's time for an appointment with the optometrist. I may be back here next week asking what Obamacare options there are for the legally blind.

we did an Alaskan cruise a couple of years ago....wonderful experience. Hubby would have preferred sun and sand, but I'd always wanted to go to Alaska

Maybe we can come to some sort of arrangement.

I've currently got a few fleas here and there despite treating the cats - what flea spray did you use?

It's bad enough that daughter #2 wants to stay every night at her dad's, which is depriving me of seeing my child. :-( I'm guessing I'm going to have to do the flea bomb.

I think y'all grew up a bit soft... in Texas, insects are pets! I will actually take most of them outside rather than kill them. I've yet to meet a bug I couldn't handle, and as for the cats.... the MALE cat does nothing, but the females will kill anything. They tag-teamed a red wasp that was stupid enough to come indoors - likely for water since it's been hot with no rain.

I guess that's Texas crossed off the list as a retirement state.

Also - by doing a new build, you've displaced their former territory. They are fighting back!

We are looking for somewhere to spend the winter/colder months...but I just can't get over the bug/reptile problem. Maybe I just need therapy...but I don't believe in spending money on that stuff.

Maybe we should move in with Uncle Ray during the winter months.
