A friend from work cooked me up a bunch for my birthday a few years ago. She did a fantastic job. I was gutted when she moved.

Salt and pepper

Combine the filling and roll into a sausage shape. Lay onto puff pastry that has been rolled out to about 1/2 cm and roll. Cut into the size of your choice and bake at 180 for about half an hour.
Good thinking, because sausage rolls aren't minging enough...

but it's the haggis that unmingifies them!

I can now confirm that Jimmy Deans Sage Sausage Meat and Puff Pastry, makes for some great sausage rolls, and dead easy (frozen pastry).

I used the jenni-o turkey meat and mixed some dried sage, chives and onions in with it. They were very good as well and also seemed less fatty and greasy

It's all in the seasoning, really, of course.

I'm not one to worry about the 'healthy option' though

I think that is why he didn't notice it was turkey because it was well seasoned.

I just hate to see the "fat" in the meat when it is cooking

What about a nicely marbled roast, though? Fat has it's place. Perhaps not in sossies, but elsewhere

I would have agreed with you not so long ago but I'm really starting to lean towards being a veggie I think. It must be having had so many health problems this year I can't believe I actually said that...especially living in Texas

Uygur kebab stalls in China sold kebabs that had a small row of pieces of meat with a piece of fat on the end. The fat was just that fat, but perfectly cooked and wonderful. I started off thinking it disgusting, but I grew to love 'em. Do not know what their secret was but best fat I have ever eatten Mmmmm.
