The Sausage Conundrum
If I take a sausage link, take the casing off, and flatten the meat out into a disc shape, it's still a sausage.
But if I take a burger and roll it up into a link shape does it become a sausage? And if it does, if I flatten it back into a disc again is it STILL a sausage now? Money is riding on this......:frown: |

Re: The Sausage Conundrum
A sausage is sausage, with or without the skin...a burger? that's just nasty!

Re: The Sausage Conundrum
The rolled up ground meat would only be a sausage if you were to encase it in skin.
So just rolling it does not make it a sausage. |
Re: The Sausage Conundrum
I say no and yes. The name refers to the shape.

So just rolling it does not make it a sausage. 1) A sausage patty isn't in skin. 2) Encasing a burger in skin wouldn't make it a sausage would it? |

Yes but....
1) A sausage patty isn't in skin. 2) Encasing a burger in skin wouldn't make it a sausage would it? Sausage links can contain any type of stuffing and it is considered a sausage. Many people call burgers 'patties'. |

Re: The Sausage Conundrum
The question seems to be - is a burger made out of sausage meat?
Technically, I think you'd have to say it basically was, although it's very unlikely you'd call it a sausage patty if you made it into a traditional burger shape. |

If you flatten it out into a disc shape you have merely created a sausage meat patty. A burger is not made of sausage meat, so the shape is irrelevant. That aside, since sausages don't have to be made of sausage meat, since it wasn't in a casing, it wasn't a true sausage anyway. It is only "sausage shaped". The "skinless" sausage is still a sausage, because it still has a casing, albeit a very thin one. Otherwise you couldn't have skinless sausage casings, which are described in this complaint. Burger meat in a casing would technically be a sausage - albeit a particularly nasty one!:( |

My take on it.
