Default San Francisco or Seattle

Hello. Been reading through various informative threads on both San Francisco and Seattle but haven't found one that does a comparison.
I intend to move to one of these cities (or surrounding area) early next year. I am single, early 40’s, visa holder and looking for a place with a buzz. I intend to work in IT and safety is big issue i.e. would prefer to live in a safe community and commute to the cultural stuff. Spent years in New York city and would like a change.

So here is my question:
If you have experienced both cities, which one would you prefer and why?

Thanks.

WOW! Not everyone who lives in or likes San Francisco is gay. Enough of the homophobic innuendos. It's annoying.

Disappointed at the responses.

I thought that the thread would have been beneficial not only to me, but to anyone thinking of moving to these areas.
Maybe I misunderstood the nature of this forum.

MrP,

Both cities are quite good. I don't think you would go wrong living in either one.

One thing to consider is the cost of living...SF is the most expensive place to live in the US.

Is it? Granted, housing is a ball-breaker, but the cost of most other goods and services are generally at par with the rest of the US.

I keep hoping I will catch it.

To the OP - San Fran would definitely have better weather. I wouldn't go to Seattle personally, because I wouldn't like that much rain. I found SF very charming - Chinatown was awesome, so was the seafood.
