San Francisco Hotel
We are off to visit family in California in April & we will be spending some time in San Fransisco. Can anyone recommend a good family hotel there, not necessarily the cheapest, just comfortable & friendly, maybe in a quiet location.
Thanks

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Right in the heart of Fishermans Wharf on the corner of Jefferson and Hyde, just a short stop from the cable cars.

I can tell you not to stay in the Crown Plaza off Union Square, all I can say is it's rooms are really crap.

The site is searchable by destination then criteria like hotels, restaurants, attractions, etc.
There are also reviews by members of the public.

The Mrs and I have just come back from a long weekend in San Francisco, where we stayed in the Cartwright Hotel, one block from Union Square. Despite the downtown location it was pretty quiet - we could hear the bells on the cable cars in the mornings, but not traffic.
The hotel itself is reasonably priced, the rooms are a bit old fashioned but clean and comfy, they welcome pets, and they dish out complementary wine, coffee, and cookies in the comfortable lobby at certain times of the day. On new Year's Eve they had a string quartet playing in the lobby as well. The complementary breakfast is also pretty good.
