Question Sales Tax Free States

I'm looking to move to Oregon next year and know it is a sales tax free state. My questions are:

Does this include vehicles?

Are everyday items that much cheaper (from no tax) or do companies just increase their prices?

A quick Google suggest there is no tax on vehicles.

You can be sure they make up for the absence of sales tax in some other way, just like states with no income tax.

Property tax is around 1.1%, State income tax is 7% and up. Veichle registration is $86-$200.

Doesn't seem too bad despite the lack of a sales tax.

I live in Oregon and vehicles have no sales tax on them. You may well require an Oregon driving license to buy one. Well you can buy without but the dealer may not let you drive it away until you produce one.

You will not see much difference in advertised prices, what you will notice is sales tax is not added on at check out. Unlike the UK, VAT (sales tax) is not included in the price it is an add on at check out. If you will be living in southern Oregon or in reasonable driving distance of California liquor (spirits) are much cheaper there. Nicely placed liquor store on I-5 just over the State line.

ETA: If you will be living in Portland area you can go over the Vancouver WA car dealers, if you get a better deal. They will sell vehicles to Oregon residents without sales tax.
