Smile Royal Baby On the Way - Kate's In Labour!

I know that most of you in the States are probably still sleeping.....but Kate has gone to hospital to deliver her baby; apparently she arrived there at 5.30am BST in the early stages of labour.

Just look at the world's media photographers waiting to take those first photos (yet somehow missed her quietly entering the hospital lol!):

I think it will be a baby girl

*Yawn*

My (American) wife is going mad. I couldn't care less.

How may others babies have been born with no fanfare in the time it took to write this post?

Well, loads of babies will be born today. But this baby is special....one day he or she will be the British monarch (I'll probably be dead by then). If this baby is a girl, she will still become the monarch even if she subsequently has a little brother, so she will make history in GB.

I'm sure that the baby will be beautiful (as all babies are)

I'm with you on this one. I'm strongly pro-royal, but this does not register for me as a media event; now Mrs P, on the otherhand!

And she'll make history in all her other realms; Canada, Jamaica, Australia, Bahamas, New Zealand, Belize, Tuvalu, St. Kitts & Nevis, Barbados, and several others. Not just a UK thing!

Well I'm excited. I always think of the royal family as a living link to our country's history.

Plus it's nice to be seeing some good stuff headlining the news for a change.

I suppose that more of us women would be interested in this event though rather than the men. Even when I was in labour my OH really wanted to go home to bed, he was missing his sleep

I think that's true, us ladies love a baby story to cluck over.

Both my kids were born at St Marys - During the first birth I dashed out to the car at 6 in the morning after being up all through the night to grab the 'new baby' bag only to see said car being towed by the council for the crime of overstaying on the meter by 10 minutes. They wouldn't let me even get the baby stuff out of the back of the car. This was right outside the entrance to the labor ward..Cost me around 250GPB to get the car back.

The second time we were forced to park about a 1/4 mile away and walk it - My wife has a good sense of humour - but that dried up real quick that day...

I was in labour 24 hrs with my first, hopefully she won't be that long. I can't help but feel really sorry for her, trying to birth naturally and knowing all the press is waiting outside. Pressure much? I think my labour would shut down...

Queen Elizabeth II

George VII (that's Charles by the way - that'll be his title as Monarch)

William V

and........then........hopefully, after today, or tomorrow..or whenever......

ANOTHER KING

The Royal Family is too weighted down with females as it is!

I came up with a quick Parent's Prayer: "Oh celebrity who art on telly; hollow be thy fame; please don't use my child's name"

Charles should become Charles III. He's unlikely to lose his head. I know the Queen's father changed his name when he became king, but it is a bit daft.
