Re: road trip
Sure. I could probably find some hob nobs. A cuppa maybe... I'm a coffee drinker and my mother complains that I don't have any 'normal' tea. She also complains that there's not enough green in Santa Fe, and myriad other things. Send me a PM if you ever head this way.

Tennessee to far for you on the six day vacation? How about Mississippi. Natchez on the Mississippi or the Gulf area for casinos. Go a few hours past MS on I-10 and you are in Pensacola with white sands and a leisurely lifestyle.

Re: road trip
Although watching the weather predictions for the next few weeks we may need to drive north. Mount Rushmore looks very interesting..

Would a nice slow trip around Louisiana not be enough, there is so much to see and with only 6 days it might be more relaxing for you!
Just a thought, remember moi used to live there

Re: road trip
Right, we now have 9 days so M thinks we should drive up to S Dakota because he wants to see Mount Rushmore.
I'm sure we will end up somewhere different
But getting a bit excited, should leave on the 19th of July

Has anyone been to the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota?

Re: road trip
I've driven by it many times but never stopped. There's quite a good view from the road but obviously not a close up.
There really isn't a bad view in the Black Hills but the dead presidents have the best view in the State! Beautiful drive up or down depending which way you start from and a few stopping points with fantastic views.
There's a great restaurant in Hill City - The Alpine Inn. Only serves steak in the evening - 6 oz or 10 oz. Get there before the restaurant opens (5 pm if I remember correctly) and sit on the porch with a cocktail. It fills up quickly!
Sturgis is where the bike rally is in August so you'll miss the madness of that, but you'll enjoy stopping there. If you want to decorate your house in bike fabric, there's a quilt shop in Sturgis that has there very own print as well as lots of others.
I know all the other quilt shops in the area if you're interested! Not sure if that's your thing.
I lurve the Black Hills.

Funnily we have never wanted to go to Sturgis when they have the August Rally but it will be interesting to be in that area as I am sure there is all sorts of bike memorabilia.
Sorry mate, not into quilting
Getting excited now, can't wait for this week to be over!
