When I came to PA, they only tested the verbal part for anyone with an out of state license, but, they didn't recognize the UK license for the test, so we had to drive. One fella was a trials driver and part of the test was to zig-zag through some pylons. the policeman said go through fairly quickly so Bernie stepped on the gas and worked the hand brake so they went through very quickly, backend drifting all the way and didn't hit a pylon. When he stopped the policeman said, "You've driven before, haven't you. Lets go over there and do the verbal test. Soon after that they recognized UK licenses.

My dad had a medical condition that caused problems with his eyes... he had almost no sight in one eye and only about 30% in the other eye... he had to have several laser treatments to improve his vision... his eye specialist was very up front with him and told him (even though my dad said he would not be driving) that he would be informing the DVLA of his condition.

Also I think it is great that 70 years are retested.
