Is it, though? It could also be viewed as a bit of biting humour, or even a serious political comment using reductio ad absurdum to make a point.
That's kind of the problem with this type of discussion. Every group gets to make their point as forcibly as they like except one, which is expected to walk on eggshells.

Our mixed household struggles to find a way to describe the washing... we are unhappy to continue doing whites and coloured washes but non white and african american didnt work, shouting does anyone have any coloureds was deemed offensive so we have decided to just mix them all together - but now have a strange shade of pink.
