Re: Return from the dead
Thanks people. (and Manc )
As you were aware I was working Sunday but Wilma came later than expected so I was at home when she hit here - about 7am ish Monday morning.
Even with her moving fast we got pretty beat up here on the Palm Beach/Broward county line as the south eastern eye wall, the eye itself and then the south western eye wall passed over us in about 6 hours. We had winds recorded to 128mph here in Boca. Luckily it was a fairly dry storm so no flooding. I actually did a Jim Cantore with a mate and we spent the entire day from 6 am till 4.30pm outside videoing the storm...got some pretty cool video too....then I had to go to work as did my wife. So I spent the last week working 12 on 12 off and BBQ ing in the yard and chainsawing trees in between.
Its pretty much a mess down here still and the clean up will probably take months.
However the worst part: Imagine 3 million ancient Noo Yoikers who cant drive anyway now having to negotiate thousands of intersections with all the traffic lights destroyed, no lights on and debris everywhere...as you can imagine Ive been fairly busy.
The first pic is a frame from my video taken near our house at about 9am as the South Eastern eye wall was going over. All those trees fell over when the back side of the eye came through about an hour later. The other pic is a neighbours car after the storm.
