30 years in the future does make you wonder how many people will be able to afford to retire.

Population will be another 100 million or so, well according to estimates, nobody knows, so anywhere is likely to be getting crowded, so many issues and nobody really knows how they will conflate.

The Willamette Valley cities of Oregon such as Salem, Eugene and Corvallis have a pretty temperate climate, and are only 1 to 1.5 hours from some spectacular coastline. Lots of other small towns in the valley too, or further west towards the coast. In 30 years, the area will probably have the climate of Northern California. Not usually a lot of snow but close to the Cascades if you want it. Its not humid here. Property prices in the cities are getting really high right now.

Become "LIVEABOARDS"...on a houseboat!

Would be an adventuresome retirement...plus you'd be not "near the coast" but beyond it - right, plunk, in the ocean (well, sorta, less or more)
California (Costa Rica, why not?) moorings could be your oysters
