Default Retiring to the USA

Has anyone retired to the USA from UK. My Dad is thinking of doing it, but I am worried about health insuance for him. If anyone has any experience in this I would love to here from you.
Thanks

Hi there,
the medical in the USA is expensive if you don't have an employer that provides coverage. I don't live in the USA, but I have friends there. My friend told me she pays $600 a month for her and her husband for basic medical. As you probably know, there are millions of Americans who have no coverage because of the costs.
Cheers

We live six months a year here in New Mexico and the medical thing is a real pain, the slightest injury costs a fortune because they do all sorts of tests to cover the Hospital & doctors from claims the insurance is very expensive and has lots of clauses. we just hope to stay healthy

Have a look into your employer's health insurance as if you can classify your father as "dependent" you should be able to add him to your own company health insurance coverage. This may still be expensive but should be a whole lot less than trying to insure him on his own.
