Renting, Schools and buying?
If we rent a propert in Ridgefield CT, our children will go to the school that the rental property is in catchment for, if after 6mths or a year we decide to buy, same town but different area and school catchment, do our kids have to change schools?
Thanks!

It's like everything else really, you can't rely on anyone else's experience, because 9 out of 10 times, it will be completely different for you!

Yea, basically you finish out the school year at school one and move to school two in the new term.
However, some places have 'grace periods' where you can ween yourself from one school to another over a period of two years or so, others have places where you can stay until the next 'school' move (i.e. elementary-->middle). Others have full school choice and you can go anywhere. Depends on your district's policies.
But generally, you'll be switching schools after you move.

so best to buy where I've rented - if I like it that is!! if not then hang on until they're about to move to middle school!
Thanks for the replies.

Re: Renting, Schools and buying?
We were lucky enough to know where we were renting and also where we would be buying as we were having a house built so we enrolled our son at the school where would eventually be moving to. The school just required a copy of the builders contract and an estimated completion date.
