Default Renewing US passport - current times

Has anyone renewed a US passport recently? If so, how long was it between mailing the application and receiving your new passport?

As I mentioned in a prior post, a family member obtained a emergency passport in Paris in July. Application for full term passport (processed as a renewal) was received on August 7th and e-mail received today that new PP was issued and sent.

BTW, the emergency PP’s are valid only for a year. They are purple darker than EU passports. And POE inspectors regardless of nationality advise getting the permanent PP asap.

Thank you, that's good to know, as it is precisely in line with the official website advice.

I did mine a few months ago, so not exactly current times, but the times are likely better now as the summer travel season is coming to an end.

I did the expedited service and paid for express shipping both ways, and it took 5 weeks. Then another month or so for the Naturalization certificate to finally make its way back; was getting a bit worried about that.

I'm a bit late to the topic but why did they need your Naturalization certificate, do you not have a US passport?

I have just gone through the process of renewing mine, the Passport office only required my old UK passport and photocopies of every page of my US passport. Standard service as I'm in no hurry for a new one.
My online application was submitted on 17th September, documents received by the office 3rd October, application approved 6th October and new passport printed on 7th October, apparently it's currently en route...
For a government office, I must say that their update notifications system and speed of service, so far, have been recommendable.

Presumably yours, Pulaski, are nearly at approval stage if you did the applications the next day.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear in my post - mine was a first time US passport, not a renewal. So I was especially pleased to get it processed more quickly than the times quoted, assuming there are extra checks for a first passport.

Well, don't I feel the stupid one! My UK passport arrived on my doorstep today, 24 days after application.

Hopefully the US office is just as fast.

Updated time-line:

Sept 20: Mailed Mrs P and my renewal applications.
Sept 22: Went to local courthouse for "review" of little Miss P's first adult passport, which was sent directly from there. I paid for priority processing.
Sept 27: Checks for all passports were cleared from my checking account, coincidently on the same day.
Oct 27: Little Miss P's passport arrived back, so precisely 1 month after the payment cleared.

We await Mrs P's and my passport.

Mother in Law just got hers back - was a renewal of one which expired a few years ago. Went to the local post office for photo etc. and application was mailed from there; took her a couple of weeks to get that post office appointment. Paid the expedited fee; new passport arrived back in just over six weeks.

OH received his new passport last week -- exactly six weeks since he sent out the application.
