I guess i always thought of LPRs being an immigrant visa, but then i haven't exactly read into it too much.
I thought I'd read on here that the GC was in fact a type of visa...but what do I know I don't need one anymore.

A visa is something you used to *enter* the US - the LPR status and card allow your to *live* here.

VISA:
"A passport stamp or document that authorizes the passport-holder to enter a country for specific purposes for a particular time period"
