Do you work? My HR manager signed mine as she was a member of some professional body.

Just one last thing, As I will be sending my current passport with my application, I shouldn't need to send my birth certificate should I?

No. I'm sure no-one ever checks up on this sort of thing. How would they even go about doing that? I worked in various bank branches for 11 years. As staff/managers between us we'd acted as valid counersignatories for hundreds of bloody passport photos (we discussed this). No-one ever checked up.

What would be the point?

I dont know when you last applied/renewed a UK passport... But now the cosignatory has to give their passport details! So YES... they do check!

When I did mine in December, they just wanted the passport info if the co-signatory had a British passport. Otherwise, it was not applicable.

Wow - created an account just to respond to my post? I'm flattered.

But if they are not UK citizens, they don't have to put anything else down and as we're in the US...

Only if the signer has a UK passport, otherwise they don't have access to another country's passport database.

I doubt they check even then. If there's a number there that looks valid, that'll suffice. If there's no number there, they'll assume the signer doesn' t have a UK passport.
