Default Renewing British passport - color photocopies of old passport?

Hi guys,

So I have completed the online process to renew both mine and my son's British passports (we live in the US, he is a US citizen and I am a US permanent resident).

I don't feel too comfortable with sending my current passport through - do you reckon it would be ok to do colour photocopies? The guidance seems a little conflicting from what I have read.

You have to send your old passport as they physically cancel it. They used to cut the corners off but now I think they punch holes through the machine readable part.

As Mr L said...you must send in your UK PP so it can be cancelled. For your son...colour copy of every page of his US PP and send it with the application.

Thanks guys!

$66 later and I did as requested - sent it all via the UPS store.
