The removal men are here..... HELP PLEASE

Well the day has finally arrived and the removal men are here, one of the main things we are shipping is loads of art and craft stuff, mostly papers etc as that is partly what I do for work.
Does anyone know if you can put Glue in your shipment, I have become paranoid about putting the wrong things in and the last thing I want is them ripping it all apart for glue, however our suitcases are already going to be overloaded without ading extra weight in. I have tried searching border security etc and can't really find what I need so any help would be great.

My packers said I was not allowed to put any liquids of any sort in there, so I ended up throwing out shoe polish, waterproofing, about a total of $50 worth of stuff which of course I then had to replace at the other end.

I don't know whether they have glue-sniffing dogs at customs ...

Imagine that, spotty dogs with bad attitudes and worse haircuts rummaging through your stuff. It shouldn't be allowed :)

The easiest thing would be to have just one box for your craft supplies and write on the carton what is included in the box.

PS we do sell craft glue here in the States

we had some liquids - like glue and medicines and toiletries etc. and had zero issue with either air or sea freight. The packers were pretty quick to pull out anything they didnt like so i just let them get on with it.

The main things pickfords were adamant about was food of any kind, drink of any kind and flammable liquids like camping gaz or cleaning fluids. They also took the battereies out of anything and left those out to.

thats odd... i filled the wasted space in my boxes with crisps and chocolate and that wasnt a problem.

I also shipped some glue paste from my wife's art box without issue.

We have huge art and craft stores over here that will make your jaw drop!

Don't bring the glue! Just replace it over here, simple! Write a list of what you're not bringing then get it again.

The UK is absolutely terrible for local art supplies. The US is simply fantastic.

Since glue isn't that expensive and the OP is having doubts about packing it, it'd probably be best to omit it altogether.

I moved with (Allied) Pickfords back in 2002 and I packed foods and liquids with no problem. It sounds as if shippers have tightened up rules about such items nowadays. I did declare all this stuff too.

Pickfords told me not to put any food in, even tea, so I think things did get tightened up. We also left masses of my son's 'Warhammer' paints behind.

Have you asked your packers? They'll know the answers as that's what they do day in, day out.

We weren't allowed to bring lots of things - but that was mostly company policy from my husband's company rather than the moving company. What we didn't have documented, the packers knew

Good luck!

Where are you moving from/to?

What kinds of things are those?
I've just never heard of that before.

Food, drink, any kind of cleaning product (liquid or otherwise), washer, drier, vacuum (regardless of whether it would work or not). Certain cosmetics and toiletries. Erm .... can't remember them all but the list was extensive.

We are moving from Sussex to Orlando. I have been asking th e packers but never quite trust them, they may do it every day but for example.... we have loads of booze left in house, now I know we cant take it and would not even risk 1 bottle but one of the guys said today ' dont worry we can put it in a box and mark it books' I think not ! so tought it better to ask those of you have been through it

they changed the laws after 9/11 - so certain substances are out. IF you put them in and they suspect - they will open the container and search it - AND charge you for the pleasure. Pickfords gave us a printed sheet stating the law that had been passed concerning the food and drink items - they didnt just make it up.
