Relocating to Boston - Taxes?
Can someone please advise whether we are liable for taxes if we are renting a property and do not own one?
Looking to relocate to Boston from Europe. With regards to public schooling - are there any fees that we need to consider when looking at areas etc. Many thanks |

I'd stay away from Boston proper as some of the schools aren't that good. Look at communities like Cambridge, Watertown, Somerville, Newton, Brookline |

No. Generally, there is no charge for attending a public school... but where you live will determine which school.....
Rent won't have you paying property taxes directly, but they will be incorporated into your rent and can easily be a few grand a month. $1200 a month rent won't get you anything but some shit hole, even in the burbs these days...it's the kind of money you'll find as you head towards I-495 but not so much in the burbs and not in Boston. There can be bargains to be had though, mate in Brookline is paying $400 a month all in, but then again, he's sharing with 6 other people...great location, but parking is another $200 a month and it's a bit of a shit hole of a house. |
