So you recycle the paper AND recycle the junk mail "subsidy" for USPS service into money for your local library!

scrubbedexpat099 is an unknown quantity at this point

In Colorado you have to pay to get rid of Freezers etc because of the cost of recycling the Freon.

The Scrap Yards will not take them without a certificate that they have been legally discharged.

In NC we pay a $3 tax to fund that. I have no idea how the process is managed except thst scrapyards DO buy them.

We have the same issue with CRT TVs in NC though. Scrap yards don't want them and even specialist electronics recyclers charge $10 to take them. The last one I had I smashed up the tube, put the glass in the garbage can, recovered the copper cable and the steel band to sell for scrap, took the electronics to the recycler, and put the plastic casing out for curbside recycling collection.

My kids broke their blackboard/easel thingy, so I wrote FREE on it in chalk and put it at the end of the driveway. I told my wife straight away and she suggested I move it to the other side of the drive so more people would see it, but it had already gone! Couldn't even see anyone walking off with it down the street.
