Recruitment agencies in the US (PNW)
Pulaski might be able to help with this, but as I'm visiting the area we plan to move to next year in December (Boise/SW Idaho) I'm thinking of getting in touch with companies and recruitment agencies just to discuss my skill set and if when we get our visa there is any opportunities. This isn't applying for jobs as I know not to do that until I have a localish residence/adress but more just introducing myself.
I know some of the main engineering companies in the area (my skillset) but I cannot seem to find much info on Recruitment Companies/Agencies in that area. Do they even exist in the US? I'm not sure how recruitment works out there, the wife seems to think it's more direct with the employers compared with here I have gotten most jobs through recruitment agencies.
Does anyone know of any good (if they exist) recruitment companies in that area? Thanks.

I think we call them "Employment Agencies" here in the USA. But I've only ever known them for getting temp personnel.

Agencies do exist here, I get headhunters messaging me on LinkedIn all the time.

The ones I see are industry/ business specific - for nursing and medical, unskilled/semi skilled industrial, accounting/ bookkeeping, office/admin, etc. Registering with LinkedIn is probably a good start, because based on my experience, once you register the agencies find you.

Also, try to make contacts with people actually working in your industry in that area - ie start networking - and when you are out here try to meet some of those people in person - that will probably be a better use of your time than trying to find recruiters.

Thanks guys and sorry for the delay, I have been away all weekend
So Natasha and Pulaski, by what you say my best starting point is to register on LinkedIn? In this country I also deal with industry exclusive ones too Pulaski so just wondered if there was similar over there, with no idea how to find out (Google didn't seem helpful).
MD, thanks. I'll give it a go but again not sure how to initially contact them to be honest.

I am a recruiter (for my sins)
We do exist over here. Linkedin is a good start, also put your CV on the major job boards, Careerbuilder, Indeed, Monster, any industry specific ones.
Your wife does also make a valid point, there is more focus from companies to hire direct, but it is my experience (11+ years) that recruiters who work for actual employers, rather than recruitment companies are not the most pro-active.
There will be a good agency in your area, find them, partner with them, research them and then keep in regular contact.
Good luck!

Thanks guys, I will let you know how I get on or if I have any questions
*Edit To add*
Pulaski, I took your advice and didn't get much back bar the jobsites listed by Canveydave, but I did find a City-data forum that you can select a local area so i will ask some questions there too, thanks.
Canveydave, when I register on the sites you list, can I put a region I'm looking for work in? I just wouldnt want to get calls for a job in New York for example.

Yes you can put location in as a field and a radius of how far you are willing to commute.
This should restrict calls from other areas.
Good luck
