Recommended Tax Advisors

Can anyone recommend a tax advisor? My husband died in 2010 and I have to complete a 1040NR but haven't a clue where to start. Many thanks, Ali

Re: Recommended Tax Advisors

You don't mention where you're located, if you prefer someone local for a face to face rather than over the phone.

Condolences on your husband and welcome to BE.

Thanks for caring to reply Bob. I'm located in Dundee, Scotland. I don't mind where an advisor is located and I assume all correspondence would be by phone / e-mail. ali

Have you looked at the UK-Yankee site, Ali? Some UK/US tax advisers & tax prep people are members of that community, and I think they have a short list of UK based firms & accountants. (The third link here is a useful article written by someone from Greenback Expat Tax Services.)

Thank you everyone for replying. I spent quite some time reviewing the links you suggested Robin and among other things, I did get one bit of good advice that tax advisors tend to be less expensive in US, so, that added to the recommendations of Pete has set me up! I'm going to contact Pete after a little holiday to Spain next week. Thanks, it's really appreciated. Ali

Incase anyone who helped me out before reads this thread, thank you so much again. I contacted Pete Newton and he is great. He was so helpful and took such a weight off my mind. Taxes now all done and submitted with hopefully a nice wee refund coming. Cheers All.
